Company spokesperson confirms follow-up to HTC Flyer
HTC will be launching a new tablet in the UK. A spokesperson speaking to PC Advisor told of a tablet with "something unique to offer," which would reach the UK to stand out in the crowded tablet markeplace. Details on potential features, specifications, and release timeframe were not forthcoming from the company.
The last tablet HTC released in the UK was the HTC Flyer, which had a higher resolution than other seven-inch tablets at the time, however the £600 ($900) pricetag led to slow sales. Other tablets launched elsewhere, such as the HTC Jetstream, have failed to formally reach the UK. If HTC is to release a new tablet in the region, it will have to compete with the imminent arrival of the Google Nexus 7, and potentially the rumored iPad mini.
The mystery tablet is expected to be powered by Android, if rumors of HTC being blocked from making Windows 8 devices by Microsoft turn out to be true.
HTC has been contacted for further information.
