Kyocera Hydro has Android 4.0 and can stay submerged in water
The Kyocera Hydro Android smartphone will arrive at carrier Boost Mobile on August 3, the companies announced on Tuesday. The no-contract carrier will sell the phone for $130. It is IPX5 rated for withstanding water spray and IPX7 means it can be submerged in up to three feet of water for up to 30 minutes without any ill effects.
The phone's features otherwise include a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 3.5-inch touchscreen. Android 4.0 is preloaded on the GB of built-in memory. Wi-Fi, a GPS radio, and a 3.2-megapixel camera with a flash are also integrated. The phone weighs 4.16 ounces.
At Boost Mobile, the phone will require a $55 Android Monthly Unlimited plan with Shrinking Payments. Six on-time payments reduce the monthly fee by $5, down to a minimum of $40 per month after 18 on-time monthly payments. The plan includes unlimited nationwide talk, text, Web, e-mail, calls to 411, and picture messaging.
