16GB Nexus 7 now shipping in 3-4 weeks

Shipping delay may indicate high demand
Shipping time estimates for the 16GB version of Google's Nexus 7 tablet have now risen to 3-4 weeks. Google's Play Store page for the device suggests that the 16GB model may be in higher demand than the 8GB model, which still has an estimated time of 1-2 weeks. The development is in keeping with recent reports, which indicated that the device was selling quickly at the retail outlets carrying it.
The Nexus 7 grabbed a good deal of attention on its announcement, and the tablet has gone on to generally positive reviews across the tech sphere. When the device became available for purchase at retailers, reports emerged that supply was insufficient to meet demand, and the devices were moving quickly.
The device's apparent popularity could make it the most successful non-Apple tablet since Amazon's Kindle Fire. That tablet, also measuring seven inches, debuted to quick sales but fell off soon thereafter.
The extra space on the 16GB model, which costs $50 more than the 8GB version, may make it a more attractive option to customers, as it is able to store much more content from Google's Play Store. Previous reports from retail outlets haven't specified the quantities in which each model was received.
