Windows Phone 8 offerings could appear after Nokia World

Even as the company announced massive losses today, Nokia appears to be aiming toward the future, with the Finnish phone maker promising that "something amazing" will be coming on September 7 of this year. My Nokia Blog spotted a banner outside Nokia's flagship store in Helsinki that directs viewers to a somewhat cryptic marketing site. The "something amazing" could simply be a redesign of the flagship store, or it may be the unveiling of new Nokia handsets.

The September 7 date the display points to is the day after Nokia World, Nokia's annual consumer electronics show. The QR code on the display directs viewers to nokiagraffiti.me, which gives visitors the option to transform pictures into stenciled graffiti-style images. The page tells viewers to prepare to be amazed at all the things in the new Nokia store and promises "a whole new way to shop."

With the focus on the Helsinki store and the statements about shopping, it seems likely that the company will be unveiling a renovated flagship store. What remains to be seen, though, is whether that store will feature any new Nokia phones, and whether those phones will be running Windows Phone 8 or some other operating system.
