Facebook buys Pulp developer Acrylic Software

Acrylic to be merged into Facebook's design team
Acrylic Software has been bought out by Facebook, says the company's founder, Dustin MacDonald. In a blog post, he explains that in the next few weeks, the company will be moving from Vancouver to San Francisco to become a part of the Facebook design team. The company' current products, Pulp and Wallet, will remain on sale but are not expected to get any future updates.
Pulp is an iPad news reader that has sometimes been featured by Apple at the App Store; the title is similar in concept to Flipboard, only using a newspaper metaphor instead of a magazine format. Wallet is available for both Mac and iOS, and guards critical data such as passwords, license info and credit card numbers.
Coincidentally, Acrylic is the second small-but-significant Mac/iOS developer to have been bought out by a major tech company on Friday. Also snapped up was Sparrow, developer of a popular email client for Macs and the iPhone. Like Acrylic, Sparrow is leaving its current software on sale, but putting a halt to any major upgrades.
