No wait on shipping apparently for 8GB version
The 16GB version of the Nexus 7 tablet from Google and Asus appears to be in high demand, as Google's site no longer lists the device as available for order. Instead, visitors to the 16GB's versions product page on the Google Play Store are now presented with a notice saying the device is "Coming Soon" and given the option to sign up to be notified by email when the device becomes available. The development comes in the wake of previous reports that the Nexus 7 was seeing high sales across retail outlets.
The 16GB version is thought by some to be the more attractive of the two available configurations since the Nexus 7 has no option to expand its memory capacity with an SD card. There have been prior indications that the device was at least selling better than the 8GB unit, as the wait time for the 8GB version was once at 1-2 weeks, while the 16GB version's wait time jumped to 3-4 weeks earlier this week.
The 8GB version, meanwhile, appears to be shipping quickly now. Its previous shipping status of 1-2 weeks is gone, and the device is solely listed as "In Stock."
