Xcode gets Retina support, upgraded language features

Continuing a spree of software updates, Apple has also posted new versions of Xcode and Remote Desktop for the Mac, and iTunes U for iOS devices. Xcode 4.4 incorporates upgrades such as Retina display support, new C++ and Objective-C features, and the ability to commit individually-selected changes during source control. By default, the software includes the latest SDKs for OS X Mountain Lion and iOS 5.1.

Remote Desktop 3.6 now includes IPv6 support, and new attributes in the System Overview report. It also, however, drops support for OS X Snow Leopard, demanding either Lion or Mountain Lion.

iTunes U has been updated to v1.2, primarily building in new notetaking features. While watching or listening to a lecture people can type out matching notes, complete with timestamps. An enhanced Search feature allows searching within assignments, notes, posts and other materials, and courses can be newly shared using Mail, Messages, or Twitter.
