Forum post with intranet image suggests permanent change

AT&T may be cutting its price for the HTC One X on Sunday, according to a rumor. A user on the xda-developers forum claiming to be an AT&T sales representative said the handset would drop from its current $200 up-front cost to $100 on a two-year contract. Evidence was supplied via a cropped image said to be from the company intranet, although the lack of company branding or other identifying information makes it difficult to confirm as genuine.

The screenshot also supplies further information on the Samsung Galaxy S III in Red, showing it as available under "Special Order" from the same date as the price drop. A labeled reminder also says that standard versions of the S III are on “Extreme Backorder,” and that the AT&T Z331 flip phone would be discontinued.

The user supplying the information to the forum, going by the name of surflamj, has a post count of 7 at the time of writing, which could make it a sock-puppet account for another forum user wanting to protect themselves, if the information is true. AT&T has been contacted for comment. [via The Verge]
