Codenamed Samsung phones listed in Apple trial filing
Samsung may be preparing two or more handsets for Windows Phone 8, according to court documents. Filed as part of the ongoing Apple vs Samsung trial, two handsets labeled “Marco” and “Odyssey” are listed as running WP8 and using Qualcomm's MSM8960 dual-core 1.5Ghz system-on-chip, which Microsoft is using in tests of its mobile operating system, according to The Verge.
The Odyssey will have a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display with an HD resolution of some description, and an eight-megapixel rear-facing camera. Sporting NFC, it may take advantage of Wallet Hub and Tap + Send in WP8. The Marco will have a smaller four-inch S-AMOLED display with WVGA resolution and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. Both will have a front-facing two-megapixel camera and LTE network connectivity.
Both the Odyssey and the Marco are expected to be released in some form by the fourth quarter, matching earlier reports.
