Amazon brings its Lockers program to three locations in California's Silicon Valley region

Amazon is continuing to expand its Lockers program despite its relatively limited appeal. The alternative shipping method that involves code-locked lockers at nearby convenience stores has now been spotted at San Carlos, Palo Alto, and Mountain View-based 7-Elevens. Customers can specify where to ship their online purchases from Amazon for pick up at any of these locations.

The idea behind the scheme is to offer buyers an alternative to getting their purchases shipped to their home, be it for security, privacy, or any other reason. Amazon gives buyers three days to pick up their package at the Amazon Locker.

The devoted site also lists Seattle, New York, Washington, DC, and London as other locations for the Lockers. [via TechCrunch]
