Evo 3D owners reporting update notifications
Owners of HTC's Evo 3D have reportedly begun receiving notifications from Sprint that their phones can now get an update to Android 4.0. Phandroid points to reports from assorted Android fan forums indicating that the notifications are going out, informing users how to download the update over-the-air.
The update will give Evo 3D owners access to home screen folders, version 4.0's Launch Bar for commonly used apps, and improved camera functionality. Also, owners will now be able to resize widgets, add and remove panels, and use Face Unlock for added phone security.
It is uncertain whether the Evo 3D will receive an update to the latest version of Google's operating system, Android 4.1. The device packs 1GB of RAM and a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, but the Sense UI featured on the phone -- and its requisite resource requirements -- may make it difficult to upgrade.
