RIM will launch the 4G LTE-enabled PlayBook tablet on Bell, Rogers and Telus on August 9

RIM revealed on Thursday that its much-anticipated 4G LTE PlayBook tablet will be hitting some of its Canadian stores on August 9. It will only be available through Bell, Rogers, and Telus, though pricing hasn't quite been confirmed. The tablet will use a microSIM card to access the high-speed network.

Launching alongside the tablet is the BlackBerry Video Store, available to Canadians for the first time. Through the app (free, BlackBerry World), users will have access to a video catalogue that offers thousands of movies and TV shows. New releases will be out as the same time as their DVD equivalents.

Mobile Syrup believes Bell will sell the 32GB tablet for $550 CAD, while Rogers may ask $350 CAD for it on a three-year contract.

The tablet will arrive preloaded with OS 2.0.1, which is also coming to Wi-Fi PlayBooks through a maintenance update.

The 4G LTE PlayBook is due out in other markets, including the US, Europe, South Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean in the coming months.
