Stories in first month themed on Remembering
Facebook has started a new site for theme-based story collection. Simply named Facebook Stories, the site curates human interest stories based on a theme that changes each month, in order to show how people are using Facebook in "extraordinary ways," including specially-produced videos, written features, and infographics based on commonly-shared items.
Facebook is incorporating other elements as well. The Bookshelf contains a list of books from Goodreads matching each theme; The Playlist uses Spotify to add connected music, and The Reading List provides access to publication archives for associated material, such as The New Yorker. A monthly podcast is also available.
This month the theme is "Remembering", with a focus being the story of Mayank Sharma, a resident of New Dehli who suddenly lost his memory after being infected with tubercular meningitis. After rediscovering his network of friends on Facebook using the "People You May Know" feature, he is regaining experiences he had forgotten.
