Two-year contract gets Samsung flagship phone

Amazon is now offering Samsung's Galaxy S III on Sprint for $120. The flagship Samsung handset is available through Amazon Wireless when customers sign up for or renew a two-year contract. The phone is also available for purchase off-contract for $700.

The Galaxy S III features 3G and 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC capability. Underneath the 4.8-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, the S III packs a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor running Android 4.0. Just before its release, Samsung upped the RAM on the handset to 2GB in order to future-proof the phone and ensure it would be able to run Android 4.1.

Electronista took a look at the Galaxy S III for our in-depth review back in July. We found the fast chipset and extensive NFC integration to be solid selling points for the device. The interchangeable battery is also a nice touch, allowing for swapping on the go. The faux metal appearance, though, was a detractor, as well as the likelihood that, even though the device is capable of running Android 4.1, it may not get the update for quite some time.
