Magellan will ship five new RoadMate GPS models, two with automatic text replies

Magellan has just introduced five new models in its RoadMate GPS range, two of which have a new Safe Texting feature. The 4.3-inch 2255T-LMB and 5-inch 5265T-LMB will pair with a Bluetooth phone for hands-free conversations or send the caller a pre-selected and composed text message with a promise of calling them back or the vehicle's present location and estimated time or arrival. These two devices also support Magellan's back-up camera add-ons.

All five, including the other additions such as the 4.3-inch RoadMate 2240T-LM, 5-inch 5240T-LM and 5-inch 5255T-LM all get a Portrait Mode that gives a better view of upcoming junctions, intersections, or points of interest. The 5255 will also support the $150 wireless back-up camera.

All also share lifetime traffic and map updates, traffic camera alerts, a Junction View, and Landmark Guidance.

The devices are due to ship sometime in September, with all priced at between $160 and $200.
