Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 pitched at students
Samsung is pitching its Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to students with a Student Edition of its tablet, according to an Engadget tipster. In addition to the tablet, the Student Edition will include a 'bonus' keyboard dock and a USB connector accessory. It is set to go on sale at Best Buy August 19.
The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 itself remains unchanged from the existing model. It is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor matched with 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of onboard storage, but is expandable with a microSD card. The Tab 2 7.0 centers on a namesake 7-inch PLS LCD display with a 1024x600 resolution and incorporates a 3-megapixel rear camera. Importantly, the device ships with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), with a Jelly Bean update likely to arrive in the future.
The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 normally retails for $249 - if the keyboard dock and USB connector accessory are indeed 'bonus' inclusions, the value-added Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 would represent a competitive option to the Asus-manufactured Google Nexus 7.
