ZTE Optik deal to start August 12
Sprint may be preparing to give away a 7-inch tablet with the purchase of a new or renewal smartphone contract. TechnoBuffalo has uncovered a flier that says the carrier will unveil a new offer; one wherein customers will receive a ZTE Optik along with the purchase of a new smartphone on a two-year contract. Customers taking advantage of the offer won't just be signing up for a smartphone contract, though; the carrier will require that they activate a new contract with the Optik as well.
The ZTE Optik's 7-inch screen outputs at 1280x800 resolution. Inside, the tablet packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 16GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, and a 4,000 mAh battery. The Optik has a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera.
Sprint currently sells the Android 3.2 tablet for $100 on a two-year contract. Customers signing up for a two-year smartphone contract will have the option to add on a plan for the Optik. Data plans for the device start at $35 for 3GB of 3G coverage per month. Sprint is expected to begin offering the plan on August 12.
