RadioShack MVNO based on Cricket, use HTC One V

RadioShack may be launching a contract-less mobile service in the future. Leaked screenshots from the company received by Engadget allegedly show a product listing entitled "HTC One V No-Contract Phone for RadioShack Mobile" based on Cricket. If true, the move would see the electronics retailer becoming a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in an already crowded carrier marketplace.

An image of a "Getting Started" page shows activation via a store or a phone number that currently routes to Cricket. According to the story's source, the RadioShack Mobile MVNO offering would mirror that of Cricket, with the possible inclusion of the Huawei Mercury and the Huawei Pillar alongside the HTC One V.

Last month, RadioShack's second quarter results were lower than analyst expectations. Shares fell by over 33 percent on the news, trading at levels last seen in 1980. Dividend payments were suspended, which would save the retailer around $50 million per year. A debt of $375 million is expected to mature in 2013.
