Lapka teases Environmental Monitor ahead of late 2012 release

Lapka has launched a new Environmental Monitor for the iPhone. The set of sensors is comprised of four units that separately measure radiation, test for nitrates in food and water, electromagnetic fields as well as humidity levels. Launching in conjunction with the Environmental Monitor later this year will be a free companion app that will also allow a user to record readings at any one time, and record them over time.

While seemingly offering a novelty value, Lapka says that the sensors are highly accurate and will offer users reliable measures of the their environment. In addition to the organic sensor, the radiation sensor will how much radiation a device like a smartphone is emitting and explain if, and how, it might affect a person - each particle is counted and visualized on the app.

The EMF sensor will detect electromagnetic fields created by electronic hardware and telecommunication transmitters and suggest to users which part of the house might have the least electromagnetic pollution. Lastly, the humidity sensor will measure both the temperature and the humidity levels in an environment, helping to set a home'e environmental controls to an ideal setting for personal comfort.

There is no news on pricing or availability at this time, though Electronista will keep tabs on the Lapka Environmental Monitor as it gets closer to market. [via Werd]
