TiVo Premiere 4 ships for $250 with 500GB hard drive, standard remote

TiVo has just released the Premiere 4 DVR, complete with four tuners that allows users to record four shows and watch a fifth one. There is also a 500GB drive onboard to store up to 75 hours of high-definition content. It supports the QAM digital cable system and Verizon's FiOS offering, but will not receive analog signals.

Outputs include HDMI, component, composite, optical audio, and analog audio. The input side includes CableCard, cable coax, Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, and MoCA. The last input allows for extending the functionality to other rooms thanks to an extender that's due to come out soon. Dolby 5.1 is supported.

The Premiere 4 slots in just under the Premiere XL4 in TiVo's range, which also has four tuners but gets a 2TB hard drive.

The DVR costs $250 and requires a monthly subscription fee of $15 on a one-year contract. There is also the option of paying $500 for lifetime service.
