New tablet/notebook to feature stylus input

As the release date for the first wave of Windows 8 products approaches, Samsung has released a teaser video showing off some of the features for its own forthcoming Windows 8 device. The new video, shown below, gives a glimpse of what appears to be a hybrid notebook/tablet device which seems likely to be the Series 5 Hybrid PC the manufacturer showed off earlier this year. Discovered by Digital Trends, the video is short on details, neglecting even to name the device, but Samsung is expected to reveal more on the device later in the month.

Amid images of clockwork solar systems, Old Master diagrams, and mathematical formulae, the viewer catches glimpses of what Samsung calls an "evolution of technology." What's shown off appears to be a slim device, bearing both a keyboard and stylus input. At the 15-second mark, the device appears to be opening in a manner similar to current notebooks, but with a headphone port and several other inputs common to tablets along its upper edge, including a USIM slot, a microSD reader, and a USB port.

The Series 5 Hybrid Samsung showed off earlier this year featured a detachable 11-inch, 1080p tablet screen that connected magnetically to a keyboard dock. That model also had an S-Pen stylus and ran Windows 8. Samsung pegged its battery life at 10 hours, and the device had a 2MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear-facing camera. Samsung made sure to point out that it was an x86 PC, not an ARM-based slate, and it will run the full version of Windows 8, not the RT version. [via Engadget]
