Wi-Fi Login Sharing allows for easy network configuration
Audio equipment purveyor Pure has detailed the Contour 200i Air speaker and docking system for the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. The new speaker integrates Apple's AirPlay, enabling the streaming of high-quality audio to the speaker set. If multiple Contour Air 200i units are on the same network, they can all be synchronized to play simultaneously, including a consistent volume level.
The Contour 200i Air has two full-range 3.5-inch drivers with twin bass ports. Output is rated at a total of 36 watts. The unit measures 14.6 inches wide, nine inches high (with no device plugged in), and 6.9 inches deep. A dock connector allows iOS devices to be plugged into the docking station for charging or Wi-Fi configuration of the speaker set, plus the unit has a 3.5mm auxiliary input for other devices.
The Pure Lounge app (free) is designed to work with the unit, and is able to stream over 16,000 internet radio stations or on-demand programs to an iOS device plugged into the speaker system. The device costs $300, and is available worldwide at retail.
