Total includes purchases, downloads, and borrows

Amazon announced today that its catalog of Kindle-exclusive titles had been downloaded more than 100 million times. The online retailer's total includes books that were purchased, downloaded, or borrowed from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. Amazon's Kindle-exclusive catalog includes more than 180,000 titles.

The retailer noted titles such as War Brides, which has been purchased or borrowed over 270,000 times, A Scattered Life, Easily Amused, and The Long Way Home as being among its most popular titles. The authors of A Modern Witch and Our Husband have sold more than 200,000 copies of their books.

Amazon also touted the success of its Kindle Direct Publishing platform. In August, KDP Select books enrolled in July earned 77 percent more royalties from paid sales than for the three months prior to their enrollment in the program.
