Apple seeds second OS X 10.8.2 beta to developers

updated 07:29 pm EDT, Wed August 29, 2012

New code out less than a week after first release

Apple is already seeding a second developer beta of OS X 10.8.2, reports say. The release, build 12C35, is arriving less than a week after the first beta went live. The timing is unusually short given that Apple will often space out beta releases by two weeks or more.

Developers are being asked to concentrate on testing Facebook integration, as well as Messages, Game Center, Safari, and Reminders. Officially the software has no known issues.

Facebook integration was originally expected to be part of Mountain Lion at launch, but wasn't fully implemented by the end of July. 10.8.2 should finally see Facebook support spread across OS X, allowing people to quickly post content to their Facebook account in the same way that they do with Twitter. The update is also expected to ensure compatibility with iOS 6, which should go live next month.
