Startup Reduxhas partnered with LG and Sony, to provide Internet video discovery on both manufacturer's smart TVs and Blu-ray players. Sony's implementation is app-oriented, while Redux is becoming the default channel guide and homepage on LG devices.
The Redux application is very popular already -- the app is among the top 15 apps on Samsung televisions, and on Google TV devices, it is routinely in the top five. Redux expects its software to be installed on more than 40 million devices by the end of 2012.
The 12-person operation is striking deals with content publishers, including Hearst and Popsugar to stream their content on Redux-installed devices. Premium content from Popular Mechanic, Road and Track, Car and Driver, MotorTrend, Bravo, ESPN, The History Channel, CNET, Animal Planet, YouTube, Vimeo, as well as Popsugar's entire library is available on Redux now.
