New version adds hover, context-sensitivity

Samsung has released an update to the Galaxy Note S Pen SDK to implement the pen's new features in third party applications. Version 2.2 allows developers applications to respond to a hovering stylus, where an application can recognize the pen near the screen and react to the gesture, similar to the Note II pen.

Other features added include context awareness, which recognizes when the pen is detached or the earphone is attached to the device. Easier and expanded drawing adds advanced features to creative applications such as color filling features, improved user interface, 33 new image effects, and a calligraphy brush, bringing the total number of brushes up to five.

Applications must be updated by the developer in order to take advantage of the new features. The SDK is available at Samsung's developer website.
