2D-to-3D movie conversion, split screen built-in

Epson has issued details of new projectors it is bringing out in the near future. The PowerLite Pro Cinema 6020UB, Home Cinema 5020UB/5020UBe, and 3020/3020e are all 3D-capable projectors that offer a full HD resolution, and also feature built-in 2D-to-3D conversion of movies and a split-screen mode allowing users to watch two different 2D sources simultaneously.

The Home Cinema 5020UB, 5020UBe, and Pro Cinema have a contrast ratio of 320,000:1 and up to 2,400 lumens of both white and color brightness. Although equipped with Epson's own Super Resolution technology, it also uses FineFrame for smoother frame interpolation and sharper 2D video, and a Fukinon OptiCinema lens. The 5020UBe also adds wireless connectivity with an external transmitter housing five HDMI inputs, while the Pro Cinema 6020UB brings in two anamorphic lens modes, color isolation, ISF calibration, a ceiling mount, and an extra lamp.

The 3020 and 3020e versions have a lesser 2,300 lumens of brightness and a lower 40,000:1 contrast ratio, and have two 10-Watt speakers built-in. Just like the 5020UBE, the 3020e also has the wireless HDMI connectivity. All five of the projectors are supplied with two pairs of RF 3D glasses that can last up to 40 hours, or up to three hours with a three-minute charge.

The Home Cinema 3020 and 3020e will go on sale in October for under $2000, while the others will be out over October and November. The Pro Cinema 6020UB will cost around $4000, while the Home Cinema 5020UB and 5020UBe will be sub-$2000.
