Usable as web server, secure FTP, network video recorder
D-Link has added another network-attached storage device designed for home use to its networking catalog. The ShareCenter Cloud Storage 4000 can hold up to 16 terabytes of data over four 3.5-inch SATA drives, and can also take advantage of dedicated mobile apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry to allow remote access to files through a personal Cloud portal.
The on-board processor is claimed to offer enough processing power to simultaneously support multiple user streams, while dual Gigabit Ethernet ports help with network transfers. As well as supporting DNLA, making it capable of streaming to game consoles and the Boxee set-top box, it can also act as a web server, secure FTP, and even a network video recorder when combined with D-Link Cloud cameras. Two USB2.0 ports allow for use as a print server and UPS monitor, and can also perform one-touch backup of USB thumbdrives.
The Cloud Storage 4000 is on sale in the US for $450.
