Headset display used as fashion accessory, records video
Google Glass has been spotted being used at a fashion show. Designer Diane von Furstenberg added the high-tech eyewear into the runway show for her spring 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week. The headset ended up being on both sides of the catwalk, not only being used as a fashion accessory, but also recording behind-the-scenes footage.
The video recorded by Google Glass will be used in a short movie to show von Furstenberg's creative process. The designer hopes to "use this revolutionary technology to give everyone a unique perspective into fashion," with the eventual film entitled "DVF through Glass" scheduled to be released on September 13th through the designer's Google+ page.
It could be suggested that the inclusion of Google Glass on the catwalk is an attempt to make the project more mainstream, allowing it to be seen to be used by non-Google developers in public. News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch lauded the marketing move on Twitter, calling it "Genius." [via AllThingsD]
