Pre-installed apps, parental controls added to Android device

Toys R Us has revealed its new child-friendly tablet running Android 4.0. The Tabeo is a 7-inch capacitive LCD touchscreen that bears an uncanny resemblance to the Archos Child Pad. The handheld has 50 pre-installed applications, parental locks for online content, and a scheduler to limit the amount of time spent playing with it. A further 7,000 free apps are available through the Tabeo-specific app store.

Capable of a resolution of 800x480, it has an ARM Cortex A8 processor running at 1GHz and 1GB of RAM. Internal storage is set at 4GB, expandable by a microSD card slot. A Micro USB and Mini-HDMI connection is included, along with a front-facing camera and a G-sensor. Battery life is claimed to be up to 35 hours for music, six to seven for video, and around ten hours for surfing the Internet.

Toys R Us will be putting the Tabeo on shelves from October 1st for $150. [via Hexus.net]
