Dual core, touchscreen, Ice Cream Sandwich embedded in display
Viewsonic has announced its new Smart Display today. The VSD220 Smart Display couples a 1920x1080 full-HD resolution touchscreen monitor with a dual-core OMAP 4 Texas Instruments processor, running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), providing full Internet capability even when the display is not hooked up to a computer.
The 22-inch display provides a Micro HDMI plug for PC connectivity, as well as two USB 2.0 type A ports and a single micro-USB port. A Micro SD card reader, RJ45 Ethernet, 802.11N, and Bluetooth technologies are available for use by the display's operating system. A 1.2MP web camera is installed on the display for videoconferencing, and integrated SRS Premium Sound speakers provide audio output. The display has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, with a 250nit brightness, and 5ms response time.
The VSD220 Smart Display will be available in the United States in mid to late October for a suggested retail price of $399.
