Job listings for 100 staff appear on LinkedIn
Amazon has opened its digital media development center in the UK today, in an effort to improve its online properties. Based in London's newly developed Tech City center, the company seeks to hire 100 employees to further development in its digital media services, such as streaming services Lovefilm and Pushbutton, and is likely to be on the hunt for more in the future.
Job listings for the center request developers familiar with the PlayStation 3 and C++, along with graphic designers for digital TV and video projects, separate from Amazon's other center in Edinburgh that deals with machine learning. Amazon's location has room for a considerable amount of employees, spanning eight floors and amounting to 47,000 square feet, suggesting that this is only the first wave of employment for the center.
London has seen a number of high-profile technology companies setting up offices, with Facebook opening its first engineering office outside the US in the city, and Google building a studio dedicated to filming YouTube video clips. [via ZDNet]
