PowerSkin's battery case packs 1,500mAh of extra power, NFC support

PowerSkin, maker of accessory cases for smartphones, has now released its latest covering, this one custom-tailored for Samsung's Galaxy S III smartphone. The skin is said to be unique by its maker, however, in that allows the handset's NFC radio to continue to operate through it. The case's 1,500mAh battery will also extend the operational time of the handset by charging its battery.

The case is made of silicon and has its own microUSB port that passes through to the phone to sync it while charging both the phone's battery and the case's in sequence. It's said to provide an extra 170 minutes of talk time and 97 added hours of standby time.

As in other such products, a power button will control the flow of the power from the case to the phone. Once the phone's battery is fully charged, the power flow from the case will be shut off.

A string of LED lights on the rear of the case shows users the approximate amount of battery life left.

It is now available, priced at $80.
