Fujifilm adds XF1 to its X-series lineup for $500

Fujifilm has expanded its X-series of cameras with the retro-styled XF1. The new compact camera distinguishes itself with either a black, red or tan ‘dimpled synthetic leather’ wrapped around the camera’s chassis. It utilizes a 12-megapixel EXR CMOS sensor, but lowers the price of admission of an X-series camera to $500.

The XF1 is equipped with a f/1.8- f/4.9 lens that consists of 7 glass elements in 6 groups. The lens is also coated with a HT-EBC compound that is designed to significantly reduce lens flare. This is coupled with optical image stabilization to help deliver clearer shots with less evident camera shake. Manual optical zoom is up to 4x with digital zoom taking it to 8x.

The XF1 is fitted with a fast EXR processor that helps the camera start up in just 0.55 seconds while helping to focus in as little as 0.16 seconds with a minimum shot to shot time of only 0.8 seconds. It is burst-mode capable with a Fn button that can be assigned with up to 6 functions controlled via the 3.0-inch LCD viewfinder. On-board special effects can also be added to shots with the camera also able to shoot full 360-degree panorama shots.

The Fujifilm XF1 goes on sale in October.
