Service allows cross-platform monetization of digital publications
HP MagCloud has unveiled its online viewer giving content owners the choice to distribute a single file as a free or paid digital publication by way of either an iPad application or web viewer, in addition to a vanity press print option. The web viewer supports all MagCloud publications regardless of format on any computer or device running an HTML 5-compatible browser.
The web viewer allows users to view pages individually our as a spread, with thumbnail and full-page view. Users can buy a printed copy or download a PDF while reading for future perusal. The viewer introduces trackable hyperlink support and other metrics to publishers, including the number of readers, page views, and shares.
The HP labs-driven MagCloud is a web service that allows users to self-publish and distribute content for personal or professional use as a "print on demand" publication or digitally for mobile and online viewing. Up to a 300MB PDF can be uploaded to the service, and a delivered printed publication can be in the user's hands in three business days.
