New keyswitches required two years of research

Matias has put what it claims to be the world's quietest mechanical keyboard on sale. The Quiet Pro Keyboard is an update to the company's previously well-received Tactile Pro, but thanks to two years of research, is now far quieter than before. It is suggested that the Quiet Pro manages to keep its volume down to regular non-mechanical keyboard levels thanks to a new keyswitch.

The keyswitch sits between the keys and the main body of the keyboard, and is the main cause of noise in mechanical keyboards. The new switches allow it to keep the same feel as its predecessor, without the added noise. Matias plans to sell the keyswitches to other keyboard manufacturer, under the guise of fairness.

The Quiet Pro is on sale for $150, with separate PC and Mac-specific versions.
