Sensor capable of 10MP resolution video at 60fps
Aptina Imaging is preparing to supply 1-inch image sensors to manufacturers. The AR1011HS digital camera image sensor has a resolution of 10 megapixels, a pixel pitch of 3.4 microns, and can record broadcast quality quad HD video, which makes the sensor potentially attractive to Tier-1 OEMs for bridge and mirrorless cameras.
The sensor uses Aptina's 24-lane high speed serial pixel interface (HiSPi) for its data transfer. As well as quad HD video, it can also record at its full 10MP resolution at 60 frames per second, and oversampled 1080p video at 120 fps, making it suitable for slow-motion video playback in HD.
Currently, Aptina is making the sensor in limited quantities for manufacturers to test, but it hopes to put the AR1011HS into mass production by early 2013. [via Photography Blog]
