Package mix of new, updated, renamed tools

At Adobe's Create the Web event in San Francisco today, Adobe unveiled its newly-renamed Edge suite of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 tools and services. Amongst the new offering are Adobe Edge Animate, Adobe Edge Inspect, and Adobe PhoneGap Build. Adobe has also given users a preview of Adobe Edge Code with the new release.

Adobe Edge Animate is a motion and interaction design tool for animated web content. Editor Edge Code is built on the Brackets open source project for developers using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Edge Inspect is a preview tool for mobile device HTML construction. Edge Reflow is a CSS layout designer tool, and is expected to be released by the end of the year. Typekit and Edge Web fonts are tools for use of hosted or free fonts for use in designs and apps. PhoneGap Build is an app packaging tool for HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

The Adobe Edge Tools & Services suite is available now as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud free and paid memberships. Following an introductory period, Edge Animate is expected to be priced at $499 for a perpetual license, and $15 a month for a standalone subscription. Additional capacity for Edge Inspect and PhoneGap Build is available through standalone subscriptions priced at $10 per month. Typekit paid plans, which include more websites and fonts, are available for between $25 per year and $99 per year.
