HTC 8X promo highlights WP8 features, new hardware tweaks

HTC’s first promo video for its upcoming Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the 8X, has hit YouTube. The commercial aims to promote the particular strengths of the Windows Phone 8 OS, as well as the new hardware features HTC has introduced with the handset. Unlike HTC’s One X+ Android flagship that carries a large 4.7-inch display, the 8X keeps its size to a more manageable 4.3-inches.

The new clip promotes Windows Phone 8 functions including Xbox music services, the familiar refrain of ‘information at a glance,’ built-in Skype with fullscreen as well as Microsoft’s Skydrive services. From a hardware perspective, HTC emphasises its minimalist design, special Beats Audio with amplifier and camera capabilities including widescreen, wide-angle shots as well as its low-light ability.

The 8X is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor matched with 1GB of RAM. It includes 16GB of storage as well as NFC support. The rear camera is an 8-megapixel sensor (likely Sony-sourced) as well as a more powerful than usual 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. It, along with the mid-range HTC 8S, will be availablel in November.
