Users can set the lock to unlock for others, as well as receive a notification when the door is unlocked. Users who like to tinker can also program the device through its Arduino-compatible ATMega CPU.

The Lockitron is up for pre-order at $149 each including shipping to the U.S. The company says that it needs to receive 1,000 orders before it can go ahead with production with orders expected to ship in March 2013.
