Mac mini stocks running low at third-party dealers

Apple store stock levels of the mini 'a bit low'
Some online as well as physical retailers are reporting shortages, or in some cases complete outages, of Mac mini stock. Internet retailers Amazon, MacConnection, MacMall, and J&R are all reporting partial or complete sell-outs of the diminutive desktop. According to reports gathered by AppleInsider, Amazon is reporting only a few units of the Mac mini server, with MacMall and MacConnection completely bereft of stock. Also, German Mac news site Macerkopf.de reports that supply of the computer are being depleted in Germany.
MacNN contacted all of the Washington DC-area Apple stores, and found limited stock in two of the stores out of the seven contacted. One store employee regarding Mac mini availability alleged that "stock levels are a bit low, but it's a holiday and we haven't had anything but iPhones arrive in days."
The last update to the Mac mini was in the summer of 2011 to the Sandy Bridge processor line, as well as the addition of a Thunderbolt port. The Mac mini has been updated more recently than the iMac, with the flagship all-in-one last seeing an update in May of 2011.
