Corte Madera opening to follow soon
Ads in Puerto Rico have revealed that the Microsoft Store previously expected to open there will have its grand opening on November 1. The ads were spotted by WPCentral, and confirmed in a post on Microsoft's Facebook page. The new Microsoft store will be opening at the Plaza Las Americas in San Juan, and Microsoft will be opening more stores in Toronto, Ontario, and Corte Madera, California, and other areas around the same time frame.
The new store will follow in the footsteps of similar retail stores recently opened in New York, Delaware, and New Hampshire. The grand opening is scheduled to run for the first two days of November. The opening in Corte Madera is scheduled for November 1 through November 3.
The next week will see Microsoft opening stores in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Toronto, Ontario. The Cincinnati opening is scheduled for November 8 through 10, while the Toronto opening is listed as coming soon.
Microsoft's retail stores are intended to improve the software giant's footing in the face of declining PC sales and a consumer computing market that has been thoroughly disrupted by the emergence of Apple's iDevices and mobile devices running Google's Android operating system. The physical retail locations will sell PCs running Windows, Windows-powered software, and Microsoft-branded hardware, including the company's forthcoming Surface tablets.
Microsoft is expected to have 44 retail stores by the middle of 2013. The coming months will see a number of pop-up stores appearing in other retail locations for the holiday season.
