New multitasking feature comes with firmware update
Samsung has released a firmware update for the European version of the Galaxy Note II, one that brings a new feature that greatly increases the phablet's multitasking capabilities. The updates were spotted by SamMobile, and they are available for Galaxy Note II units in France and the UK. The update brings a capability known as multi-view, which allows users to have two windows open on one screen, allowing for more computer-like multitasking.
Users downloading the update will now be able to open and resize video and other content while using the device. Not all Android apps support the feature. New Galaxy Note II devices in stores are said to already have this version of the firmware installed. Users can download the update over the air or using Samsung KIES.
Electronista got the chance to check out the new feature -- as well as a few others Samsung is bringing to its phablet -- at AT&T's Unwrapped 2012 event, and we'll be uploading video of the Galaxy Note II's new abilities in the near future.
