Windows Phone 8 smartphone to be T-Mobile exclusive

Nokia's Lumia 810, a new Windows Phone 8 smartphone, will launch as an exclusive to T-Mobile's network in the coming weeks. The news came today in a joint announcement from Nokia and T-Mobile, one noting that the Lumia 810 -- not to be confused with the Lumia 820 -- will feature compatibility with T-Mobile's 4G network and would have many of the Nokia-specific apps that have come to characterize smartphones from the Finnish manufacturer. The announcement gave no date certain for the 810's availability, but it is expected to launch shortly after the full unveiling of Windows Phone 8 at the end of this month.

In addition to 4G connectivity, the Lumia 810 will have a 4.3-inch screen, 1.2MP front-facing camera, and 8MP rear camera. The rear camera will feature Carl Zeiss optics, enabling crisper and sharper imaging.

The Lumia 810 will also come loaded with Nokia Music, featuring curated playlists across a range of genres. Also included will be Nokia's location apps, including Nokia City Lens, which supplies augmented reality information atop hotels, restaurants, and other buildings.

T-Mobile has not provided any pricing or launch information on the Lumia 810. It is expected that Microsoft will host a full unveiling of Windows Phone 8 at the end of the month, with devices believed to be launching in the weeks following.
