Three consumer models, one business model unveiled

Lenovo has taken the wraps off of a new family of four convertible devices designed for Windows 8 or RT. For consumers, the touch-optimized family includes the IdeaPad Yoga 13, Yoga 11, and IdeaTab Lynx. For professionals, the business-friendly ThinkPad Twist was unveiled utilizing the full Windows 8 package.

The IdeaPad Yoga's hinge allows the display to move 360 degrees and fold from laptop to tablet in one motion. Infused with the third generation Intel Core processor family and running Windows 8, the Yoga 13 provides laptop-grade performance in a slim 16.9 mm (0.67-inch) frame with up to eight hours of battery life. At the flip of the hinge, the Yoga 13 transforms into a media-friendly tablet primed with audio-visual features including Dolby Home Theater. The 13.3-inch high definition IPS touch display allows flipping through photos and other content with Lenovo's Motion Control technology or gestures on the multi-touch screen. The Yoga 13 will be available on October 26 starting at $1,100.

Yoga 13's smaller screen size counterpart, the Yoga 11, measures just 15.6 mm (0.61 inches) thick, boasting a 11.6-inch multitouch screen, the Nvidia Tegra 3, and up to 13 hours of battery life. Prices start at $800 for the Yoga 11, with a December availability.

The IdeaTab Lynx is one of the first Windows 8-based tablets with the dual core 1.8Ghz Intel Atom processor and 2GB or LPDDR2 RAM. The 11.6-inch multi-touch tablet claims up to 16 hours of battery life with optional base, and cinema-quality sound with Dolby Home Theater. A full size USB port is available for connectivity when the tablet is attached to the base. The IdeaTab Lynx and optional keyboard base will be available in December for a starting price of $600 for the tablet, and $149 for the keyboard.

The new ThinkPad Twist can be used as an Ultrabook, and then converted into a tablet. The 12.5-inch 350nit IPS display enabled ThinkPad Twist has packages up to the third generation Intel Core i7 processors, can run Windows 8 Pro, has optional 3G, and accommodates large storage up to 500 GB or 128 GB SSD. The new offering also includes dedicated software tools specifically for small business including Lenovo Solutions for Small Business powered by Intel Small Business Advantage and Lenovo Cloud Storage by SugarSync. The ThinkPad Twist is available in November for prices starting at $649.
