ViewSonic to bring out touchscreen LED monitor just in time for Windows 8 launch

ViewSonic this week introduced a touch-capable LED display with the 22-inch TD2220. Due out in October to coincide with the release of Windows 8, it will allow users to explore the operating system's touch control technology. The display can read inputs from a bare or gloved finger as well as a stylus.

Longevity and a clear screen are ensured thanks to an 8H scratch-resistant, anti-glare, and dust-proof coating that should make it suitable for commercial applications. Further adding to such an application are a VESA mount compatibility and a Kensington lock.

The monitor's tech specs include 1080p resolution, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1, and a 200cd/m2 brightness. A 5ms response time and white-light LED backlight round out the major specs.

For connections, there is an HDCP-compliant DVI-D port and a VGA connection. Two Type-A USB ports and one Type-B USB port are present as well and allow for hooking up peripherals.

Finally, two 2W speakers are integrated into the housing.

The monitor is compatible with Windows 7 and its touch features thanks to the included drivers.

The product ships in the third week of October in North and Latin America, priced at $330. [via Tom'sHardware]
