Windows 8 spotted on sale at Walmart ahead of release

Walmart is selling Windows 8 over the counter 11 days too early. The retailer has been spotted putting boxed copies of Windows 8 Pro on its shelves ahead of the official October 26th street date, with employees claiming the operating system was available to purchase, though the store was not promoting them.
The Windows 8 Pro upgrades were found to be $70 in price, matching the announced prices by Microsoft itself. Although they did not buy the software, the reader of The Verge took a photograph, confirming the use of the new paper-based packaging. On closer inspection, it appears that stores will get a selection of covers from the already-announced range, rather than a shipment with just one design.
This is one of the first sightings of Windows 8 in retail, and although the launch isn't for over a week's time, more retailers are likely to sell the software ahead of schedule, breaking the intended street date.
