Sports cameras capable of underwater recording

Action camcorder manufacturer Contour have introduced an upgraded version of its Roam compact and rugged video camera line. The ROAM2 is an aluminum-clad sports camera with simple controls, and can even be used to film up to 1 meter underwater without the aid of a waterproof external casing.

Video can be shot in 1080p at 30 frames per second, or a reduced 720p at 60fps, with its locking Instant On-Record switch immediately capturing images. An added stills mode allows the camera to take photographs at nine different time intervals, while the 270-degree rotating lens and laser alignment will help line up shots from wherever the camera is mounted.

In four different colors, the Contour ROAM2 is on sale for $200 from retailers on October 21st, with the green model exclusive to Amazon until the end of the year.
