Suggested Android 4.1 update due in the coming months

Samsung has confirmed that it will be providing all Galaxy S III users in the US an update to Jelly Bean. The change to Android 4.1 from Ice Cream Sandwich will be dependent on how long each carrier spends with the update before releasing it to customers, and in lieu of a definitive release date, it will be rolled out "in the coming months."

Updates for the international version of the Galaxy S III are taking place this month, with Poland being the first country to receive it. The 4G version being launched in the UK on Everything Everywhere this month will have Jelly Bean pre-installed onto it, suggesting that other UK Galaxy S III handsets will get the new software at the same time.

Samsung has previously confirmed it will be putting updates out for a number of its Galaxy handsets, including the Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1, S II, Note, Tab 7.0 Plus, S Advance, S II LTE, Music, Chat, Ace 2, Beam, Ace Plus, Mini II, and S Duos. The Galaxy S III Mini, announced earlier this month, will use Jelly Bean from launch.

I never understand why people freak out about not having Jelly Bean. The SGS3 is a great phone with ICS. Its more about people being concerned about what their "About Phone" section says than about actual functionality. One of my favorite features of the Galaxy S III is to View the notification bar on the Galaxy S III while playing a game or full screen app.now you can save yourself the curiosity and trouble with Samsung’s built in notification bar gesture command.
