Galaxy S III will be the most powerful handset ever offered by MetroPCS
MetroPCS will begin offering the Samsung Galaxy S III handset on Monday, October 22, as promised. The regional carrier will sell the handset for $500 without a contract, while the high-speed LTE data plans from MetroPCS range from $30 to $70 per month. Its arrival will mark a significant milestone at MetroPCS, as it will be the most powerful, expensive, and fully-featured handset ever offered.
To recap, the Android 4.0-running handset is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Users face a 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED touchscreen with 720p resolution and a 1.9-megapixel camera. Out back, there is an eight-megapixel shooter. The I9305 version of the handset has 16GB of user storage onboard, though a microSD memory card slot is present.
Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC radios. While some are already running Android 4.1, the update to the latest version of the OS is expected soon for the MetroPCS Galaxy S III. On larger carriers, the phone costs $200 on a two-year contract.
